“South Park Madame” released from jail

Sallie Saxon, the “South Park Madame,” was released Tuesday from prison after completing her two-year federal prison sentence.
The 60-year-old woman and her husband, Donald, were sentenced back in 2008 for running a high-end prostitution ring out of hotels in SouthPark and uptown Charlotte.
Saxon’s enterprise was known as “Hush Hush” and claimed to offer non-sexual companionship on its website for fees in excess of $700.
According to prosecutors, Saxon made as much as $3 million.
Clients would pay up to a thousand dollars or more for the escorts.
Prostitution has been around for centuries, but as law enforcement steps up efforts to get rid of the age-old sex trade, pimps and prostitutes are finding more sophisticated ways to cash-in.
It’s more than just the internet; they’re now involved in identity theft, robbery and drugs.
Earlier this month, News Channel 12 was invited to follow Hinds County Deputies as they busted a suspected prostitution house in Terry. During the sting, deputies confiscated $16,000 in cash, Valium, steroids and other drugs. The suspected pimp, 54-year-old James Little, is still on the loose. Deputies say he was running a motorcycle repair business as a front.
After decades of undercover stings, Major Nick Clark says prostitutes are turning to more unconventional methods, like the internet.
“They post their pictures, some of them are as explicit as anything I’ve ever seen,“ he said. “Advertising what they do, what they’re willing to do, how much they charge for it.“
The number of foreign prostitutes on Oslo streets is nearly back to what it was before the ban on the purchase of sex services was introduced last year, public broadcaster NRK reports.
Figures compiled by the Oslo Pro Centre shows that the number of prostitutes on Oslo streets is again at the level of two years ago. It is now nearly one year since the ban on the purchase of sexual services was put into effect.
Leader of the Centre, Liv Jessen, says to NRK that she is surprised at the number, and the fact that so many are from Nigeria.
Sting targets escort service prostitutes

An undercover investigation targeting prostitutes at South Mississippi businesses providing escort services has resulted in the arrests of nine people, including three men who happened to be in the vicinity of the bust when they were arrested on a misdemeanor drug charge.
Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Troy Peterson said the undercover sting targeted employees of South Mississippi escort agencies, though he did not want to identify the agencies allegedly involved because of an ongoing investigation. Peterson said the undercover probe was conducted at an undisclosed location.
“We’ve gotten complaints in the past about local prostitution in different areas in Harrison County and decided we were going to target some of the companies,” Peterson said.

Three Chillicothe men were arrested earlier this week for allegedly running a sex-trafficking ring.
The men allegedly arranged for the travel of females, including a 16-year-old girl, from Ohio to Maryland to engage in prostitution.
(614) Magazine Editor David S. Lewis said the same things that make Columbus a great distribution place also makes it an easy access point for people who are trafficking sex.
“It’s very explicitly illegal sex services. That’s what that is,” Lewis said.
How easy is it to order a hooker to go?
Lewis answered one of those newspapers ads and used a hidden camera to show us.
A woman agreed to show up for $150. Her 6-foot-5-inch companion was unexpected.
I paid the pimp. Uh, I paid her driver the money that we had agreed to on the phone. After that she wanted to be tipped in the room. She said that was very common so it was kind of a scam as well as prostitution, Lewis said.
She demanded an additional $200, Lewis said, but he didn’t intend to carry out the illegal act.
“At one point, it became really apparent that I was neither a potential john nor a cop, so it made it really awkward for everybody, I think,” Lewis said.
The woman left with her companion. When the car came squealing back, Lewis escaped out the window—with a story about the ads.
“It is prostitution. It absolutely is prostitution. It’s defended many times on First Amendment grounds, but the First Amendment intention, as far as the press goes, doesn’t necessarily extend to advertising illegal services, I don’t think,” Lewis said.

Police say they have busted a major prostitution ring in Paducah.
One woman, the alleged ringleader, has been arrested at her home in the Lone Oak area. Police say they not only have the so called ‘madame’ who ran this organization from inside the house, but investigators say they have several logbooks that identify other prostitutes, and even clients.
The alleged mastermind of this operation is a 45 year-old woman. According to police, she ran Brooke’s escort service which was really just a front for a prostitution ring. Investigators say she had up to 5 prostitutes working for her, including at least one family member.
Ledgers indicate the woman was profiting about $800 per week and that she had been involved in the prostitution business for years.
