RP massage parlors caught in sex sting

Two massage parlors were busted in a prostitution sting June 10 in Rohnert Park, said Rohnert Park police.

Two women were arrested for prostitution after plain clothes officers entered the establishments and were solicited by employees for sexual acts.

One was arrested at Cupid Massage and the other was arrested at Rainbow Massage. Both have Commerce Blvd. addresses between State Farm Drive and Professional Center Drive.

The sting operation was prompted by numerous complaints from neighboring businesses, said RP Police Detective Sergeant Jeff Nicks. “We don’t target these places but when we receive complaints… like everything, we will focus our attention there until we deal with the problem.”

He said this is the first sting of this kind in “several years” in Rohnert Park. Usually it’s neighboring businesses that register the complaints, said Nicks, because “The customers that frequent those types of places are not going to be complaining.”

Massage parlors can sometimes be a front for brothels. When a massage parlor stays open from 9 a.m. to past 11 p.m., “It seems kinda strange when everything else in the shopping center is closed,” said Nicks.

“If you were to walk inside one of these places looking for a legit massage, you’d be disappointed,” he said.
