Deputies bust alleged prostitution ring

A Callaway man accused of using the Internet to run a prostitution ring was arrested Monday, officials said.

The 24-year old man was booked into Bay County Jail after it was learned he had been using the online website Craig’s List to solicit sexual acts for women in his employment, according to a press release from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

He was staying at the Days Inn on Tyndall Parkway with a woman who was observed drinking alcohol in the parking lot, according to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office release. The woman returned to the room with deputies to verify her identity.

He was found inside the room with another woman, the release said, and both reportedly consented to a room search, which turned up $10,000 in cash.

Sheriff’s Office officials said their investigation revealed the man was using the room at the Days Inn as a meeting place for sexual activity between clients met on Craig’s List.

“We were unable to verify (sex) acts at the home, but we believe it was used as a headquarters for the operations,” Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ruth Corley said.

Corley said Sheriff’s Office investigators believe more women could be involved in the prostitution ring.
