Man solicits sex online, robbed by prostitute-gunman duo in Concord

A woman has been arrested and a man is being sought by investigators after the pair robbed a man who solicited sex on the Internet and met the woman at a local hotel, police said.

The victim, who found the female suspect on Craigslist, was robbed of cash and his wallet at gunpoint by a man police have identified as her accomplice. He remains at large.

The robbery was reported about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Concord Hotel, 1970 Diamond Blvd., said Concord police Cpl. Kerry Cerletti. The victim told police that he went up to a room to meet with a woman he had solicited on the Web site, and after what Cerletti described as their “rendezvous,” they agreed to eat at a restaurant together, he said.

The woman told the victim about complaints she had gotten from hotel management about the different men seen going to her room, and suggested he take a stairwell downstairs while she took an elevator so they would not be seen together, Cerletti said.

In the stairwell, the victim said he was assaulted by a man with a stocking cap over his head. Afterward, as the victim ran downstairs to meet up with his female acquaintance, the man who assaulted him had caught up with him, now with the stocking cap pulled over his head and holding a semiautomatic handgun. He robbed the victim and fled on foot.

The victim went to the hotel lobby to report the robbery, and while he was being questioned by police, he saw the robber outside standing near a car, and yelled at him. This prompted the man outside to lock the car and run away. Police impounded the car, and searched the female suspect’s room, where they found evidence linking her to the robber.
