Prostitution sting nabs eight suspects in Ulster

Police in Ulster County nabbed eight women who they said were making house calls as part of an internet-based prostitution business.

Undercover officers from the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team ordered the alleged prostitutes over Craigslist, a popular classified listing site on the Web. The women were listed under the “erotic services” directory, police said.

Each of the women—some coming from as far as Albany of Schenectady—came to a location in the Town of Saugerties and offered sexual acts in exchange for money, police said. All eight, including a mother and daughter team, were charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor. One was also charged with a misdemeanor for possession of a weapon when police found her with a stun gun.
