British vice girls caught in police raid on Paris ring charged £8,000 for sex

Five British women were among 40 high-class prostitutes caught working for a vice ring in France.

The women are believed to have been charging as much as £8,000 a night for sex.

They were working for a 39-year-old madam arrested in a Paris suburb. She also had ten Frenchwomen and 25 Eastern Europeans on her books.

Detectives said it was it biggest sex network uncovered since British madame Margaret MacDonald was caught running a ring of more than 500 girls and 30 men, six years ago.

The 44-year-old convent-educated MacDonald was jailed for four years in 2003 on charges of ‘aggravated procuring’ for the purposes of prostitution.

A Paris police spokesman said of the latest case: ‘A 39-year-old French woman operating from the Paris suburbs was arrested last Wednesday.

‘She was in possession of laptops and phones containing the details of 40 young women all working as high-class escort girls.

‘They were charging up to £1,500 an hour, or £8,000 a night, for sex with rich businessmen at luxury Paris hotels.

‘They were then returning 30 per cent of their income to their pimp.’

Neither the woman arrested not any of the girls could be identified at this stage, the spokesman added.

The unnamed madame ran a series of internet sites and newspaper adverts offering ‘the company of beautiful, sophisticated girls’, police said.

Many girls often travelled thousands of miles to the Middle East or the U.S. for sex with clients, they added.

The madam is said to have told police she was unaware the girls were charging for sexual acts.

She insisted instead that the money that changed hands was simply for the women’s company at dinner or at business functions.

The woman, who is being held in custody, faces charges of aggravated procuring, police said.

It is not illegal to work as a prostitute in France but it is illegal to make money from prostituting another person.

None of the women – who are aged between 20 and 33 – has been identified by police.
