OTTAWA – Ottawa police arrested 20 women and laid 65 criminal charges during a prostitution sweep Monday evening.
Police said the women face prostitution-related charges after the sweep, which occurred in areas including Hintonburg, Centretown, the Byward Market and Vanier.
One woman is charged with drug trafficking after a woman allegedly tried to sell crack cocaine to an undercover officer, police said.
Police said they have conducted several prostitution sweeps this year and will “continue to make this a priority.”
People are asked to call police if they see someone believed to be soliciting for prostitution.
