Spring Valley cops charged 16 men with patronizing prostitute
By Steve Lieberman

Officers arrested 16 men accused of soliciting a female undercover cop during a four-hour weekend prostitution sting, police said today.

The department conducted the reverse prostitution sting in effort to discourage men from thinking they can pay for sex in the village.

All 16 men were charged with a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree patronizing prostitution and released for Justice Court hearings.

The police have done crackdowns on women prostitutes and transvestites charging for sex.

From 11 p.m. Saturday until about 3 a.m. Sunday, a female police officer posing as a street walker roamed around the downtown business district near the Transportation Center, Police Officer Rony Charles said.

Other officers from Spring Valley and the state police backed her up.
