Police crackdown on prostitution
More than 100 prostitutes are working in Dundee, according to police.
The force said it was targeting the women and kerb crawlers involved and had reported three men and four women to the procurator fiscal since 6 July.
Several others had been given formal police warnings and officers are noting the registration numbers of suspicious vehicles and could visit the owners.
The crackdown is taking place in the Stobswell and Blackscroft areas of the city, where prostitution is a problem.
Det Insp Colin Gall said: “Clearly prostitution will not be eradicated overnight but we are very encouraged by the positive and immediate impact our efforts are having in the area.
”For anyone not yet convinced that our efforts will be sustained, I can assure them, there will be no safe haven.
“Do not loiter, either in a vehicle or on foot, for the purposes of engaging in prostitution or you will be caught.
“Kerb crawlers face a criminal conviction, which also very often means their name being published in the press.”
